I'm delighted to assist my client in their search for a new Purchasing/Materials Management Team Leader position.
Based in Southport, this company is going from strength to strength, and as a new position, the successful Purchasing/Materials Management Team Leader will have the opportunity to demonstrate their drive and flexibility in order to progress within the company.
Working alongside the Purchasing, Sales and Manufacturing departments, the new Purchasing/Materials Management Team Leader will have responsibility for:
Ensuring potential new and preferred supplier sources of supply are identified and assessed
in accordance with associated procedure
Establishing and maintaining effective process for engaging suppliers in continuous improvement / cost reduction activities, and sharing knowledge and ideas
Co-ordinating activities in order to ensure approval of supplier first production samples is completed
Overseeing quotations and purchase orders associated with purchase of materials, parts and sub-assemblies are processed in accordance with associated procedures and in a timely manner.
Appropriating criteria and process for assessing and monitoring supplier performance, recommending required improvement actions are effectively managed and appropriate records are maintained
Using the MRP system to determine / forecast material requirements, monitor and control inventory levels
Ensuring purchase orders are raised and processed on a timely basis, and that materials are effectively expedited, received, and accurately identified and adequately stored
Dealing with purchase ledger queries, investigating and resolving on a timely basis
Monitoring, controlling and recording stock levels of incoming materials, work in-progress and finished products
Ensuring housekeeping standards within stores areas are clearly defined, effectively monitored, controlled, and that any necessary improvement actions are taken
Selecting materials from stores and presenting to the production line in a manner that enables continuous and efficient manufacture
Identifying and isolating all non-conforming / suspect materials,
Completing month end reconciliations
The successful candidate will have a good understanding and knowledge of modern purchasing and supplier development principles and practices, great communication skills, and solid commercial awareness.
