Trainee Graphic Designer Job in Christchurch

Dovetail Recruitment are excited to be working with an innovative company in the Christchurch area who are looking to add an additional Trainee Graphic Designer to their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with the ability to "wow" with designs and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite to join a growing and forward thinking company.

The Trainee Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating designs to clients brief, producing accurate artwork, and maintaining strong links internally and externally to communicate efficiently at all times.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create product designs and packaging to brief specification, understanding any spec limitations or specific requirements and adhering to brand guidelines.
• Work on allocated design projects to meet deadlines and produce consistently excellent visual work and design ideas
• Communicating productively with other team members and customers to keep them up-to-date with design progress
• Develop mood boards, colour trends, and design inspiration boards
• Develop range designs and merchandising visuals as required
• Produce mock-up samples and die lines as required
• Prepare all printed material needed for customer meetings / suppliers
• Produce and proof accurate artwork and designs considering all aspects of the brief including:
• o Packaging
• o Product Spec
• o Merchandising
• o Benchmark Samples
• Determine size and arrangement of copy and illustrative material, as well as font style and size
• Review final layouts and suggesting improvements if required
• Liaise with product team on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and artwork is printed to the highest quality
• Understand print, product specs and print process used before artworking or designing
• Use and update design templates and guidelines for other team members

Key Requirements:

• Prior experience or a degree/relevant qualification in Graphic Design
• Excellent Adobe skills including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
• High attention to detail
• Very creative and able to deliver impressive concepts
