Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Group IT Department based at the Port of Liverpool.

Role Purpose: Responsible for project delivery relating to core systems and infrastructure. To act as a technical point of escalation for internal support teams relating to priority incidents and problems requiring root case analysis.

This role will include the following responsibilities:
  • Work as Technical Lead for both Group IT and Business related Infrastructure based projects dealing with a wide range of platforms and applications
  • Work with the project team to develop low level planning documents for the successful delivery of change, based on approved designs
  • Become the technical expert for infrastructure platforms and technologies
  • Work with Technical Architects where required to contribute to the high level design of solutions
  • Carry out monitoring and environment planning activities for existing platforms
  • Be proactive in making recommendations for continual service improvements through the adoption of new technologies
  • Actively work to recognise and mitigate risk for both existing and new technologies for the department
  • Occasionally travel to other sites to assist with project work
  • Understand the departments strategic objectives and support and deliver the related initiatives

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
  • Experience in a fast moving IT department at a senior technical level
  • A deep and demonstrable understanding of Microsoft products and platforms as well as network fundamentals and virtualisation
  • Experience in delivering projects to deadlines and managing third party involvement efficiently
  • Azure based accreditation would be advantageous
  • Basic understanding of ITIL principles and how they benefit the smooth running of IT operations
  • A drive to succeed and be a leading technical expert within the department
  • Willing and able to travel to other sites as and when required
  • Previous experience working within an industrial environment would be beneficial
  • Be willing to be part of an on call rota for out of hours escalation
