Purplebricks is a unique hybrid estate agency. Having successfully disrupted the market with a strong focus and utilisation of technology and data, we are now the UK's largest estate agent, selling more homes than anyone else in the market

We're proud to be an official partner of Team GB and will be showing our support for the nation's Olympic athletes in the run-up to 2021. Our mission is simple: to be the best and most loved place for customers to buy, sell, and let their homes. We will achieve this through our amazing people - our #TeamPB - and by living our Purple Promises, which bring us together and ensure we live and breathe the same beliefs and values.

What does 'Digital' at Purplebricks look like?

Our ever-growing Digital team is made up from Design, Engineering, Infrastructure and Product experts. Our beanbags, sofas, mini-fridges and standing desks create a relaxed environment in our Shirley headquarters - supporting our culture of trying new things, failing fast, and being open about our successes and struggles. You'll be joining a team with a clearly defined product strategy led by a solid and experienced leadership team at the helm.

Position Overview

We are looking for bright people who are passionate, always growing, and fun to work with. As a team we love to evaluate new technology; we pride ourselves on improving our engineering practices and ways of working all the time. If you feel that you'd enjoy working with us then please have a read of the day to day section and the skills/experience list below

What will your day to day look like?

You'll be joining a multi-skilled product squad, usually consisting of Back End, QA and Front-End engineers, Design and Copy people, a Scrum Master and a Product Owner. Product squads are responsible for building/delivering fantastic software and also spend time helping in the discovery stage, which informs what we decide to build. You'll be part of all the usual Agile ceremonies and as a team, you will be delivering backlog items over two-week sprints. When it comes to culture - we really try to build happy, cohesive, performant teams that pull together. Each squad feels a real sense of ownership over their work - we're always striving to improve our Agile maturity. Building an environment based on trust and honesty is really important to us - if something's not right you can be sure your voice will be heard and people will care about what you have to say. As a front end engineer, you will primarily own the front end tasks for on backlog items - delivering some independently and some through pair programming. As we work in multidisciplinary squads you will also be asked to assist others doing Back End, QA (etc) work to make sure we hit our sprint goals. Outside of squad work you will be part of the Front End Chapter. We hold biweekly Chapter meetings to talk about tech and ways of working. We work democratically to evolve our stack and make constant improvements. There are "Guilds" you can choose to join if you'd like to get involved with certain specialisms more. Finally, we have a culture club where you can help out if you'd like to get involved in hackathons, charity and diversity work.
