Location: Remote working / County Hall, Loughborough Road, Nottingham NG2 7QP
The Public Health division at Nottinghamshire County Council commissions a range of Public Health services and works with other organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the population and reduce health inequalities.
We now have two 12 month fixed term vacancies for experienced public health professionals to join our team. The first is primarily to support the functions and activities of the Health and Wellbeing Board whilst the other is to support the development of Joint Strategic Needs Assessments.
Qualified to degree level (or able to demonstrate substantial experience equivalent in breadth and rigour to degree level), you will have relevant experience in Public Health or related work as well as experience of building partnerships and working collaboratively with others.
You will be a good communicator with well-developed planning and problem-solving skills, highly organised and flexible.
The Health and Wellbeing Board role will suit someone with initiative who is keen to work proactively and closely with elected members and senior officers to progress various agendas within the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This includes the development of agendas for board meetings and the coordination of partner contributions and content for Health and Wellbeing Board workshops.
The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment role will suit someone with initiative who is keen to work proactively and in partnership to assess population health needs to inform commissioning processes. This includes managing the entire JSNA process from initial topic identification, prioritisation and developing an annual work programme, to subsequently supporting JSNA authors, liaison with the JSNA Steering Group, quality assurance of final products and then report writing to secure the Health and Wellbeing Board's approval.
If you have a preference between these two roles, please state this as part of your application.
Depending on individual circumstances, postholders will be primarily based remotely at home or at County Hall, Nottinghamshire.
These posts may be available as a secondment opportunity for existing County Council employees. Applicants selected for interview should secure agreement from their manager for the secondment prior to interview.
Nottinghamshire County Council has a NHS Pension Direction Order in place, which means that we are able to provide ongoing access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) where we recruit eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS.
