Full Time January or Easter 2021
Hill House seeks an enthusiastic, well qualified and committed person to join this very important department from January 2021 or Easter 2021.
Physical Education and Sport are key areas at Hill House. In addition to a competitive fixture list, a sport friendly timetable, and success at regional and national competitions, the school has recently developed a 16 acre, high quality sports' ground, a high performance gymnasium, and an astroturf hockey pitch.
The Department is central to Hill House life. There are currently 7 full time members and 3 part time member of the Department. In addition, a number of other members of staff coach sport and take teams.
This position would equally suit an experienced teacher or a newly qualified teacher. NQTs are guided through induction under the auspices of the Independent Schools' Induction Panel, which is fully recognised by The Department of Education.
Hill House is the leading co-educational independent school in South Yorkshire. It is an exciting and expanding school of some 700 children from age 3 to 18, where teachers can teach and children can learn. The school was founded in 1912 and occupies a splendid site outside the South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.
The school occupies stunning facilities, harmonising the history of an outstanding campus with new, purposely designed 21st century facilities. A multi-million pound development project has seen the building in recent years of a new Sixth Form Centre, Music School, Sports Grounds, Astroturf and Dining Hall.
Academic results are the best in the area, with 58% of GCSEs being awarded grades 7-9 this year, and 48% of A levels being graded at A/A*. They are improving every year and compete very favourably with other independent schools; expectations are rightly high, and we are ambitious for our children.
Doncaster is a thriving and historic town with excellent communication links, little more than 90 minutes by train from Kings Cross. The culture, facilities and shops of York, Leeds, Harrogate, Nottingham and Sheffield are all within easy reach. Doncaster is surrounded by many beautiful villages in the countryside of South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and North Lincolnshire, and property prices are very reasonable indeed.
We require someone to inspire a love of Physical Education and Sport and who will demand the highest standards throughout the age range (5 to 18). An ability to coach a main school sport to a high level would be an advantage.
The Department also delivers GCSE and A Level Sports Studies, and there would be the possibility of some academic teaching if appropriate.
The school has a competitive fixture list and organises a number of regular sports tours, both within the UK, and internationally, including in recent years to Holland, Portugal, Canada and South Africa.
We are county champions at Hockey at most age groups, and have won national and regional successes at Hockey, Netball, Swimming, Rugby and Cross Country.
Each year group form Year Four to Upper Sixth has a full afternoon of Games each week, in addition to normal Games and PE lessons and a full programme of sporting activities after school.
The school currently has Main Sports and Secondary Sports as follows:
Term Boys' Main Sport Girls' Main Sport Secondary Sports

Lent Hockey Netball/ Rugby Rugby Sevens, Cross Country,
Summer Cricket Cricket/ Tennis Boys Tennis, Athletics
