My client, one of the country's leading sustainable energy companies, are looking to recruit a Group Tax Accountant to join the growing head office in Merseyside.
Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Group Tax Accountant will take ownership for all statutory government submissions of VAT and duty, whilst also working closely with external third party advisors on more complext tax projects.
In addition, this role will also take ownership for CAPEX reporting and the fixed asset register, as the company continues to expand their physical presence throughout Europe.
Key responsibilities include:
Prepares and submits tax return data on behalf of the business.
Prepares accruals for company records and accounts.
Ensures that tax liabilities are settled on a timely basis.
Liaises with regulatory bodies to submit data and answer queries.
Supports third party consultants employed to prepare corporation tax returns.
Manages tax compliance reporting.
Records newly approved capital projects on the ERP system.
Maintains the accuracy of the capital projects, raising accruals at period end and capitalising completed projects on a timely basis.
Reports on the status of the capital project portfolio.
Maintains the accuracy of the fixed asset register by overseeing monthly depreciation runs and processing additions and retirements in an accurate manner, fully compliant with policies and standards.
Supports internal and external audits, including visits and inspections by tax authorities. The ideal candidate will be:
Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CTA or equivalent)
Experience in a tax accounting role in industry
Understanding of UK tax laws and regulations
Prior CAPEX reporting experience, and understanding of project controllership
