JOB TITLE: Phlebotomists
BAND: AfC Band 2
LOCATION: Bury, UK
PLACEMENT: to start ASAP, 5 days per week
PAY: £9.21 per hour
4Recruitment Services are seeking Phlebotomists to work within the Bury area to provide a phlebotomy service to patients who attend outpatient clinics, inpatients, or direct access from General Practitioners in the community
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
Undertake routine assessment tasks related to individuals' health and well-being
Assist in delivering programmes of care to meet individuals' health and well-being
To communicate information only to those people who have a right and a need to know it consistent with SRHT procedures and the law
To record data accurately using the agreed systems i.e. PAS.
To contribute to updating of patients records
To prioritise the care requirements for identified patients
Be an integral part of the Main Outpatient Team and, where service permits, also work within the outpatient clinics as directed by the nurse in charge.
Ensure safety prior to blood samples being taken.
Be competent in the selection of the appropriate sample bottle for all common laboratory investigations
Be competent in the procedures required for bleeding high risk, immunocompromised and patients nursed in isolation for cross infection purposes.
Be competent in the use of computer software packages associated with the ordering of blood samples from different sources.
Ensure samples are correctly labelled for transportation to the laboratory in accordance with the Sample Labelling Policy.
To identify and report any changes that might affect the patient's condition
To obtain agreement from patient/carers before commencing any care related tasks
To promptly alert the team where there are any changes in the patient's health and well-being or any possible risks
To provide the highest possible standard of care within venepuncture.
Ensuring accuracy of information on samples and request cards.
Ensuring cleanliness and decontamination of all equipment
Obtaining specimens for patient investigation as directed
Assist a senior colleague nurse and/or doctor in the support of patients during medical procedures
Escort/transfer patients to other wards/departments
Act as chaperone during physical examination at the request of the clinician or the patient.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
Venepuncture Skills are essential
Previous Phlebotomist experience
Registered Phlebotomist Certification
Achievement of National Care Certificate or willingness to work towards
L2 Health related vocational qualification e.g. NVQ or willingness to complete
level 2 apprenticeship within 18 months of employment
Experience of promoting care formally / informally
Car Owner & with full clean driving license
Enhanced DBS check
Eligible to work in the UK
