I am currently looking to recruit an Engineering Manager for a successful and growing business based in Derbyshire. You must have experience of high volume products manufacturing.
You will be responsible for Technical Project Management of all NPD projects through all the NPIP phases i.e. Idea Generation, Feasibility, Specification Development, Design Confirmation, Implementation, Pre-Production and Production. As such communication is required company wide.
Engineering Management - 3 direct reports & many other reports within projects
Communication within the local team, other sites & to customers
Responsible for all aspects of Design and Development of New Products & Technical Project Management of new products destined for production facilities
Specific activities involved which will be undertaken or supervised
Provision of Product Support for new and existing products - all manufacturing sites including completion of 8D's as required
Applications support for Customers & Sales Department
Optimisation of product designs to aid the manufacture, assembly and application of new and existing products. A key area of focus here is the understanding of variation within manufacture
Approval of designs for subsequent manufacture
Support for the other development team members in all technical aspects of the project
Project Management - as required depending on scope and scale of the project
Technical liaison with external Suppliers and Customers
Technical liaison with internal departments
Progress reporting - both internally and externally - at all levels
Have a design background and be able to analyse designs, mechanisms, components and systems etc.
Understanding of G, D & T, tolerancing, jig & tool design, product validation & verification testing, approvals requirements plus the aspects of working with 3D CAD and the benefits that this provides
Basic electrical fundamentals
Design of mechanisms - electro/mechanical
Performing a DFMEA / PFMEA
High volume manufacturing environment
Preference of degree educated is an upper second minimum (2:1 or better) Sarah Farrugia
