Our Reading based client are currently recruiting for a Procurement & Supply Chain Manager to join their team to cover maternity leave. The role will be to start in January 2021 and will be a 9-month contract.

Role purpose

The Procurement & Supply Chain Manager is accountable for the management of the company's supplier base and strategic partnerships.

The job holder will provide management to the negotiation, on boarding, contract performance delivery and governance of the company's supplier base and strategic partnerships, ensuring a quality service is provided to the business across all requirements.

Job description

Provide day-to-day management of the commercial, legal and financial aspects of the company's supplier base and strategic partnerships.
Continue with the ongoing audit requirements of the business in relation to supplier management in turn developing a continued approach to maintaining the risk profile of the supply chain recommending improvements to the process and policy
Driving value in the supplier base and strategic partnerships by providing proactive leadership in procurement, contracts, governance whilst embedding process and best practice
To develop strong relationships between the Legal team and its customers (internally and externally) to provide supplier governance, improving processes and driving efficiencies and added value
Prepare, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and documentation (SLA's, KPI's, Intellectual Property protections) to assist and support various business activities. Identifying, quantifying and mitigating risks, escalating as appropriate and aligning risk with business strategy
Develop and improve supplier engagement strategies and where appropriate, build and present executive business cases for strategic partnerships
Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal advice to stakeholders as required ensuring it is understood, including flow down of risk and translation of obligations to the business
Provide subject matter expertise and provide board level management information relating to the operation of the supplier base and strategic partnerships (GDPR, data collection, reports, KPI and SLA management)
As required, support the negotiation and execution of client contracts which form part of a strategic partnership proposal
Ensure alignment between the company's client and supplier contracts in terms of risk management
Complete all required duties associated with an in-house legal function, such as; filing, risk reporting, contract management system use, input into legal team direction and willingness to form part of a strategic function. Essential skills

A service-oriented individual with previous experience of managing a suite of suppliers across a spectrum of industries, including strategic partnerships. Ideally, focused on and driven by developing a highly effective supplier base
Excellent relationship management and communication skills necessary for interaction with internal and external customers.
Knowledge of, and experience in contract negotiation, preparation and administration
A sound working knowledge in commercial contract law, including relevant commercial aspects relating to suppliers and strategic partnerships (GDPR, Intellectual Property, SLA's)
Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure to tight deadlines Desirable skills

Experienced in managing a range of business to business contract types, supplier services and technology services
Experience of working within regulated industries (financial services, utilities,)
Proven track record of working within a commercial in-house legal team with demonstrable experience of developing strategic partnerships within a supplier base The successful candidate will have a confident, genuine, and reliable approach to business. A passionate and determined attitude is also required as well as being a team player
