Senior Design Engineer (Solidworks) - Competitive Salary DOE + Excellent benefits

Based - Devon

Our Client is a global world class engineering firm who manufacture parts for the automotive, defence and motorsport sectors. We are searching for a Senior Design Engineer to join their team.

Candidates must have experience in Solidworks and will ideally have an automotive background.

Key Responsibilities For The Senior Design Engineer :
  • Design of new & existing products
  • Production both 2D drawings and 3D models for parts & assemblies
  • Design fixtures and tooling to aid in the manufacture of fluid transfer assemblies
  • Mentoring Design Engineers
  • Deputising for Head of Engineering
  • Work closely with the Commercial & Project teams to ensure new products/projects are delivered on time and in budget
  • Directly look after key OEM accounts, offering on site Design support & technical advice
  • Work closely with Manufacturing & Production teams to ensure Products & Processes are designed for manufacture
  • Work to and assist in improving Design office procedures in line with IATF16949
  • Work closely with our suppliers to ensure products are designed for manufacture & meet all technical & commercial requirements

Candidate Skills and Experience Required For The Senior Design Engineer:

·Educated to degree level in Design Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

·Fully trained in Solidworks and working knowledge of CATIA

·Minimum of 3 years' relevant design experience gained within a manufacturing company

·Ideal candidates will have Automotive experience although this is not essential

·Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

·Able to work effectively in a team ensuring that the best outcome for the company is achieved

·The ability to manage multiple projects at once & deliver them on time

·Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques would be a great advantage

·Jig/Fixture & SPM Design Knowledge

·A working knowledge of Quality standards IATF16949
