Our Client is one of the UK's leading producers of retail structures and commercial glasshouses. The company is enjoying huge success, with vertical farming expected to offer yet further growth opportunities, creating jobs and offering exciting career paths for existing and new members of staff. Essential to this growth is recruitment, attracting talented individuals who can help facilitate the expansion of the business, with an HVAC Design Manager viewed a key hire.

Reporting to the Head of Design, the HVAC Design Manager forms part of the wider multi-disciplinary construction management team. Working in collaboration with other department heads, the HVAC Design Manager is responsible for all mechanical schemes, driving efficiency and improving productivity to promote best practice. The position is first and foremost a hands-on design role, providing detailed technical design specifications for complex projects. In addition to your own workload, there is a small team of Mechanical Engineers to manage which is anticipated to grow over the next 12-18 months.

Along with a high degree of technical awareness and industry experience, this position also requires the successful applicant to demonstrate strong leadership, setting the bar high and encouraging the development of those under your supervision. Working for a true industry leader requires technical excellence, a flexible "can-do" attitude and often a competitive edge, promoting a client facing service that ultimately aims to surpass customer expectation.

The Design Manager will be responsible for the daily engineering activities of the department, providing concept designs, estimates and budgets to a wide-ranging variety of projects. Traditional heating, ventilation and air conditioning design forms a large part of the job, along with specialist energy modelling utilising IES software. As many of these structures are constantly heated and cooled at the same time to provide optimum environments for growing, this creates many challenges for which the company is heavily experienced in meeting.

Applications are invited from seasoned Mechanical Building Services Design Engineers who have a successful track record of delivering projects to time and cost
