Thames Water has moved to an "Intelligent Client" model for AMP7, building in-house capability to understand how its physical assets are performing and when to make appropriate operational or capital interventions. Thames Water will own more of the scope and definition of projects and risk will be managed by those best placed to mitigate it, be it Thames Water or its supply chain. About the role:
This is a crucial Senior Leadership role where you will have overall accountability for the delivery of water and wastewater network programmes in the Thames Valley. This will be achieved by managing and assuring the performance of Thames Water Senior Project Managers, Project Managers and its framework Contractors to safely deliver multiple project and programme outcomes to time, cost and quality. You'll have 5-10 direct reports and own the relationship with framework contractors.
You'll be responsible for the delivery of a programme of projects between £300m - £500m such as water network replacement projects, Trunk main replacement and reinforcement and sewer flooding prevention projects.
Driving the development and continuous improvement of the Project Team and Supply Chain, you will relentlessly strive to deliver enhanced health, safety & environment outcomes, customer delight and commercial performance.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
Developing and delivering an optimised programme to achieve all regulatory, statutory and internal outputs, deadlines and targets.
Commercially managing all contract matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water.
Delivering sustainable financial out-performance against approved budgets.
Delivering successful technical solutions that provide optimal value for money on a capital and whole life cost basis.
Performance managing the service providers to ensure out-performance of service levels and value for money.
Proactively managing risk to minimise the impact on the project.
Establishing and continuously promoting a proactive health, safety & environment culture across Thames Water and our service providers.
Achieving leading edge performance in safe and sustainable delivery of capital projects, as well as their subsequent operation and maintenance.
Leading a customer focussed culture unrelenting in its pursuit of excellence in service delivery to both internal and external customers.
Proactively ensuring every customer touch point is a positive experience to remember.
Maintaining a strong external stakeholder relationship to actively protect and enhancing Thames Water's reputation to external customers.

Encouraging and implementing innovation from supply chain to develop a continuous improvement project culture.To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
Educated to degree level with further professional/management qualifications or outstanding role specific experience.
Proven track record of managing the performance of third-party organisations or contractors.
Track record of success in the delivery of significant capital programmes at a senior level.
Strong commercial approach with a good level of contract knowledge. Bases conclusions on a balance of business development and cost control issues.
Ability to take on management responsibility in different functions/businesses and led through difficult times.
Proven process improvement design and implementation capability.
Ability to develop and implement feedback systems to improve business performance. Can deliver tough messages with empathy.
Consistently outperforms against stretch targets and can demonstrate a tangible drive to continue to outperform.
Balanced, realistic approach to pressure, always maintains a positive outlook in front of others.
