Plant Mechanical Fitter

Days

Newcastle

£25,000 - £28,000 + Significant Overtime + Training

We are supporting our retained client in Newcastle to appoint a Plant Mechanical Fitter. As the Plant Mechanical Fitter, you will support the Mechanical Supervisor in the running of the Maintenance Department and managing the Plant and Maintenance Team on site.

This role is a very hands on position, requiring a good range of knowledge of plant and machinery maintenance. You will be working on things such as:
  • HGVs
  • Forklifts
  • Cranes
  • Plant Equipment (Motors and Generators, etc)

This role is an important part of the team, coordinating safety, planning and project support across the site and ensuring all kit and equipment is managed, maintained and serviceable, ready for use as and when required.

Full training is given on the cranes and forklifts but they adapt a 'learn by doing' attitude and want you to get stuck in from day one!

This role fulfils a management function on site and there will be a requirement to attend management meetings and experience of team leadership and man management is desirable. A flexible and 'can do attitude' is the key to success in this role.

If you have a Forklift and/or a HGV licence, that would be highly desirable but not essential.

This position warmly accepts applicants from the Armed Forces, perhaps those from one of the technical roles or positions working on Vehicles such as the Logistics Corps, REME or Royal Navy in a Mechanical remit.

This role is a day shift position and affords both training opportunities and significant overtime opportunities.
