About the role:
This is an exciting and challenging role leading the Environment Department's Technical team. The Department has responsibility for operating over 70 mine water treatment schemes and delivering a large variety of capital investment and continuous improvement programmes. It can be working on over 60 projects at any one time with an annual Capital delivery programme of circa. £20m.
This role will be a strategic lead for the Technical team which consists of experts in Geochemistry, Process Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Ecology and R&D. The team plays a critical role in supporting the operation and compliance of our mine water treatment schemes and helping the project delivery team to develop new and innovative solutions when developing new treatment and remediation schemes.
A key part of the role is to work with and influence external stakeholders to develop collaborative catchment based, sustainable solutions to the management of mine water and environmental protection.
The role is also a key part of the Environment Departments Senior Leadership Team and will therefore support and influence the strategic direction of the department.
We're looking for an experienced Leader with a technical background. They should have experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams ideally in an operational organisation. Experience in environment protection, operations, senior stakeholder management and the mining or water environment would also beneficial as well as experience of working with regulators.
We are looking for a strong leader with the ability to influence and deliver change to processes and ways of working to achieve specific strategic outcome in accordance with best practice.
They will have the ability to work with and adapt their style to a variety of internal and external stakeholders. They will also have the ability to communicate at various levels across multiple disciplines within project, operational and technical teams.
