Teaching support are excited to be working with a school in Chatham who are looking to recruit a number of Learning Support Assistant to start in October
The school supports students aged 11-16 with SEMH. The environment can be very challenging in terms of behaviour however the senior leadership team look to promote staff members that work hard and make a lasting positive impact on their student's. There are huge opportunities to progress.
The positions will start on a temporary basis with the option of going permanent after a number of weeks working with the academy through Teaching Support.
It is essential that you have some of the below experience:
Experience of supporting children/young adults with challenging behaviour
A keen understanding of being able to create bonds with students that have had challenging backgrounds and to be able to quickly build trust
Worked within a Pupil Referral unit or SEMH school within the past 24 months
Experience Teaching students within SEN school's or candidates with a mental health support/young offender's background would be strong candidates
Any experience of restraint training is highly advantageous but not necessary as the school use this as a last resort in all cases
Solid knowledge and experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
Any understanding of supporting children within the foster system is also advantageous
The rate of pay is £70+ per day for the right candidates. Temp to perm option after 12 academic weeks.
