I have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant or someone wanting to progress in their career and build experience. PK education are working in partnership with a school in Chesterfield who cater for pupils who have Social Emotional Mental Health needs, Mild Learning Difficulties and challenging behaviour. In this role you will be required to support within a classroom setting, and 1:1 with a student should they need extra support. The students are encouraged to take part in lots of activities to keep them engaged, so you will need to be willing to take part. You must be able to use your initiative with the students and be able to quickly deescalate any situations. It would be desirable if you had experience working within a similar setting or have previously worked in Youth Work with students that have SEMH.

The ideal candidate will -

Ideally have experience working with students with challenging behaviour and Mild Learning Difficulties, such as Autism

Be creative in engaging the child's learning

Be able to quickly build rapport with both staff, students and parents

Resilient, calm, committed, team player with a professional outlook

Be able to support the pupil's social and emotional development

Team Teach trained is desirable

Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
