My client is a multi-disciplinary consultancy seeking an Environmental Advisor to work as part of the team in their Leeds office. The main purpose of the role is to support their project teams and construction partners who are delivering fluvial and coastal flood defence schemes on the Environment Agency's WEM and NGSA Frameworks and The Coal Authority on Mine Water Treatment schemes.

You will be supporting project teams with timely environmental input into the design and project planning process through direct advice and the coordination of other specialists. This will include taking a project from conception through the assessment and design stages onwards to construction and into an operational state.

This role will:

Liaise with the project teams and potentially the client to determine the scope of environmental requirements
Organise environmental surveys from a range of specialists, Ecology, Contaminated land, Hydro ecology, Heritage etc
Ensure that all findings from these surveys are timely completed and communicated to project teams in verbal and formal written reports
Ensure that the design of schemes has considered all relevant environmental legislation and client requirements
Conduct handover meetings with construction teams
Support site managers during construction in relation to any environmental issues on site
Help lead the way by taking on initiatives within JBA to incorporate sustainable development into our systems; examples may include carbon reduction, circular economy and waste.

The right candidate will have:

Relevant proven experience working in an environmental field preferably in a consultancy/construction setting
Relevant membership of IEMA, CIEEM or CIWEM
Relevant Environmental degree (or equivalent)
A valid UK driving licence
Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office.The role will focus on assessing the environmental impacts of flood alleviation and water treatment schemes so some knowledge of specialist inputs such as Environmental Management, Water Quality, Ecology, Landscape, Heritage would be advantageous.

Experience of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Systems is beneficial as is specialist experience in a discipline such as ecology, planning, landscape architecture, heritage, arboriculture, or EIA.

Experience working within the construction sector is also desired.
