Job Title: Group Internal Auditor

Location: Gloucester

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus a good range of benefits

Duration: 12 month FTC

Hours: 21 hours a week

About the role

?A rare opportunity has arisen in our Group Internal Audit team based in Gloucester for an individual wishing to add value to our organisation for a 12 month period.

As part of the team you will be responsible for providing assurance to Ecclesiastical's Group Audit Committee that risks are managed to an acceptable level. In doing so, you will be expected to work closely with all areas of the business, getting to know their processes and understanding the risks they face in order to help them identify weaknesses in day to day processes. The role contains a great deal of variety and allows people to build up a holistic view of the organisation which is extremely valuable. You will be working with various departments throughout the business including (but not limited to) underwriting, claims, finance, procurement, IT, investment management and brokers.

You will be expected to be an active member of the team from day one. Internal Audit is a fascinating and rapidly developing profession that is much in demand in all large companies.

You will need to have good relationship building, analytical and communication skills, an inquiring mind and an understanding of basic business processes. No specific software skills are required, with the exception of Microsoft Office applications. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and has a positive outlook, who we can work with and who will build trust with our key stakeholders.

Key accountabilities:

·Identify key risks associated with achieving business objectives

·Determine the controls in place to mitigate the key risks identified

·Give an opinion on the design of the controls in place

·Design tests to assess the effectiveness of the controls identified

·Report upon control weaknesses, ensuring clear evidence is retained to support opinions

·Follow up on management actions agreed during audits to ensure that risks are being mitigated

·Active engagement with members of staff within the organisation and at all levels of seniority in the gathering of appropriate audit evidence

·Ensure compliance with internal audit methodology and external (regulatory) requirements

·Carry out ad-hoc assignments as required

·Operate with independence and objectivity

·Contribute to the annual internal audit planning process

·Assist with the preparation of written reports to the Group Audit Committee

·A limited amount of travel will be required dependent on the audit you are working on, and will be UK-based

Knowledge, skills and experience:

·Knowledge of the concepts of risk and control. Inquisitive and investigative nature

·Analytical thinking and attention to detail

·Ability to remain objective and not be easily influenced

·Confidence to liaise with all levels of staff across the business

·Ability to challenge the business and the internal audit team on existing processes

·Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity

·Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

·Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

·Proficient IT skills
