Senior Project Engineer - Aerospace

gap professional are looking for a permanent Senior Project Engineer who is a highly motivated individual to work on the design, development, qualification and sustaining of Primary Flight Controls and Actuation Systems for Commercial and Military Aircraft for our client, a leading Global Aerospace Engineering based in Tewkesbury.

Key Responsibility Areas

Provide technical project management and co-ordination to multidiscipline engineering teams, for one or more NPI projects
Deliver the technical solution in compliance with requirements, budget and schedule
Manage the technical baseline
Resolve cross discipline technical issues within the development programme
Cost and schedule responsibility for programme related engineering activities
Report out at the weekly project review board (own the technical metrics, i.e. SPI & CPI)
Support the Programme Manager to create and maintain development plans and schedules
Act as the primary technical focal to the customer and suppliers
Application of process and efficiency improvements within a single development program

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

Bachelor Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical, Systems or Aerospace Engineering
Has proven effective project engineer-related responsibilities including leading multi-disciplined technical personnel involved in the design and development of complex systems
Demonstrated leadership, exceptional communication skills, planning and fiscal management
Experience with EVMS, resource allocation and planning
Experience identifying programme risks, developing and executing mitigation plans
Experience identifying critical to quality characteristics and the use of industry standard tools such as DFMEA and PFMEA
Highly proficient providing technical briefs to internal/external customers and suppliers, both written and verbal
Track record of meeting non-recurring cost targets and design to cost targets within a single development programme
Previous experience in Aerospace or equivalent industry experience will be considered. That is an industry that provides experience of requirements definition, design, development, certification testing, configuration control and process awareness.
Lean & CI trained, with experience implementing the tools in the NPI project environment

Remuneration includes:

Annual salary of £45,000 - £50,000, depending upon experience & skill set
25 days annual leave (plus statutory)
