Our Carlisle site has up to 1500 employees, spanning over 3 Factories across 2 sites. The site produces around 90 million meals annually with 150 products made daily over a 7 day operation along with a turnover of £140 million.
We're currently recruiting for an Engineering Shift Manager to join our Engineering team at our Cavaghan & Gray site in Carlisle. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager be responsible for delivery of your own specific responsibilities as well as the day to day running of the shift. You will be directly responsible for leading the engineering shift team and be instrumental in driving continuous improvement, reduction of down time, improve overall equipment effectiveness and safety. You will be responsible to delivery safe, high quality engineering support and services to the manufacturing teams, the meeting of all departmental KPIs (in terms of response times, final fixes, machine availability and planned maintenance schedules) is also a paramount deliverable of this role. You will provide engineering support and guidance to your own team to ensure shift priorities and planned production targets are met. You will be required to deliver a fully detailed report after every shift, which will provide full details of key work activities carried out, details of any work handed over and parts required. You will effectively work with your engineering and Operational peers to deliver a first-class engineering service to the Operations team. Our contractor and purchasing control will also form part of this role's responsibilities and these processes will need to be controlled and administered by yourself. From time to time you will be required to perform a hands-on role and assist the team, although this is seen as those rare occasions when the shifts are short staffed, and the factory demands significant. You will be required to deliver a fully detailed report after every shift, which will provide full details of key work activities carried out, details of any work handed over and parts required.
* Qualified to H.N.C standard or equivalent experience within electrical or mechanical engineering.
* Demonstrable experience of maintenance of busy production lines involving electric / mechanical machinery.
* Can motivate and inspire a team of mixed ability engineers.
* Previous experience in a similar role or in a fast-paced environment would be beneficial.
