About the role

We're currently looking to recruit a Process Scientist to join our Taste & Nutrition site in Menstrie, Scotland!

We're looking for an individual with a focus on optimisation of the propagation process on site, including working with procurement.

Key Responsibilities

·Knowledge carrier for the production processes

·Continuous process optimisation and troubleshooting of existing processes

·Maintaining optimal operating points for quality, efficiency and energy along the entire value chain

·Technical interface for substrate purchasing and utilisation

·Scientific analyses of production processes with the aim of increasing capacity and yield

·Supervision of production trials including technical, qualitative and commercial analyses

·Close and trusting co-operation with other departments and external service providers

·Identification, establishment and implementation of new processes with the Innovation Leader

·Collaboration with interdepartmental projects & new product launches

·Planning and co-ordination of production trials with production, supply chain and innovation

·Support process and plant designs for construction and commissioning of new production facilities

·Planning and implementation of commissioning in co-operation with engineering and production

Qualifications and skills

·Minimum degree in Biotechnology/ Applied science or Engineering

·Strong communicator, who can translate complex processes into a simple message.

·Good knowledge in the field of fermentation (preferably yeast production)

·Three years of professional activity within biotechnological or food manufacturing environment

·Knowledge of biotechnology / fermentation processes

·Competency in physiology & biochemistry

·Process knowledge in fermentation processes involving yeast extracts & active dry yeast

·Experience and interest in process optimisation within a large-scale manufacturing environment
