Junior Content Writer required for our Colchester based client to join a very busy editorial team on one of their magazines in assisting with content for both print and online articles. This is a great opportunity for someone who has their own blog and/or has experience in both on line and offline media keen to get their first opportunity of their career with this Junior Content Writer role. It will your responsibility as Junior Content Wrier to support editorial staff in all activities relating to the production of the magazine and to manage social media accounts, contribute content ideas, produce copy, carry out various research as well as much more!

The Role

Organising, researching and writing a number of regular pages within the magazine to tight deadlines, and seeing these pages through all stages of production alongside the Editor
Carrying out a variety of online tasks including monitoring the title website and social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram etc. and regularly contributing relevant content to these sites. Implementing and overseeing social media campaigns
Contributing content ideas which are on brand, well researched and may support advertising or other commercial activity
Performing routine administrative tasks such as responding to or forwarding on email requests for support, sending back projects, sending out complimentary copies of the magazine and dealing with correspondence
Liaising with production staff, project designers and other in-house and out-of-house contributors as required in order to facilitate the smooth production of the magazine
Organising, researching and writing features within the magazine
Ensuring the upkeep of systems such as filing systems and other organisational devices to facilitate the smooth production of the magazine on a monthly basis
Producing copy for the monthly online newsletter
Subbing and preparing for publication projects commissioned to freelance designers, ensuring that all copy is accurate, that all necessary material has been supplied and checked
The Person

Knowledge and experience of social media
Proof-reading skills
Must be able to demonstrate an interest in media/social via work experience or own blog etc
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent IT skills
Attention to detail
Excellent time management skills to ensure all deadlines are met

Salary £18k
Monday to Friday hours
