Media & Marketing Technician
·To be responsible for administering the school website including content and artwork
·To develop the technical communication of school information, having regard for website compliance.
·To work across a number of areas providing skilled technical support for teachers and curriculum based activities;
·To support teaching and learning strategies within the designated areas
·To make an active contribution towards developing the technical aspects of art, dance, drama and media.
·Is responsible to the Headteacher, via the Business Manager in all matters.
·Will be line managed by the Business Manager in all matters.
·Will maintain good working contacts with all levels of teaching and support staff, students, parents, Governors, staff members of Education and other Council Departments and other similar agencies, contractors, visitors and external bodies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
·Develop and enhance the use and administration of the website throughout the school community. Updating artwork and school information.
·To implement high quality design standards and universal styles and branding.
·To serve as the key contact with the Website designers to maintain and co-ordinate a resolution of any issues.
·To monitor and reports website statistics and make recommendations to Leadership for future improvements
·To act as a technical resource to implement innovative emerging technologies, such as Twitter, Facebook, appropriate social media platforms.
·To manage school official Facebook page on a daily basis
·To take a lead role in the co-ordination of marketing, advertising and promotional activities / events of the school, through the website/Facebook
·To oversee all social media managed by other staff in the school name.
·To maintain, prepare and organise display cases with photography
·To maintain a fresh stock of promotional marketing photography.
·To organise, complete and upload to SIMS staff photographs and ID badges
·To prepare reports of student photography permissions
·To support visual learning across the whole school through the use of arts based ICT
·To support the safe use of equipment including recording, dance and drama GCSE work and editing.
·To provide filming and editing for school events
·To be proficient and/or train technicians in the use of recording equipment and assist in its use with students to aid assessment
·To be proficient and/or train technicians in the use of recording equipment - sound effects and backing tracks etc.
·To manage the update of student planners on a yearly basis
·Manage and create a yearly prospectus and marketing material for Open events to a high standard.
·Comply with financial procedure to procure the required resources
·To create and publish termly Newsletters
·To assist with the audit the facilities and ensure that inventories are kept up to date
·To ensure that art rooms, workshops, learning areas and adjoining areas conform to Health & Safety standards at all times, carrying out Risk Assessments to ensure safe ways of working.
Qualification and Experience
The postholder should have and exhibit:
·There are no specific qualifications are required for this post, but an interest in the Visual Arts, marketing and a creative approach is essential for this post.
·An applicant would need good ICT skills and the ability to navigate an apple mac is desirable.
·A good knowledge of Photoshop is required
·A good knowledge of photography using an DSLR is desirable
·The ability to use film-editing software such as Final Cut Pro to some extent is needed.
·A good understanding of Facebook and social media and how to use it to our advantage in a professional manor.
·Good organizational skills are required along with the ability to prioritise workload
·The ability to communicate effectively in both speech and writing is important;
·A flexible approach to each of the disciplines is crucial
·Work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles & responsibilities and your own position within these
·A sound sense of confidentiality and tact, as well as the ability to work, when necessary under pressure
