R&D Product Innovation EngineerAbout the Role:The Product Innovation Engineer will be a key member of the Product Innovation team, supporting the delivery of the Britvic Innovation agenda. As Product Innovation Engineer, you will be responsible for delivery of Innovation projects, in White Space, Sustainability and Transformation. Most projects will be run in an incubator model, supporting the team looking at new growth opportunities for Britvic. Working as part of a dynamic, cross functional team, you will own the technology delivery & development to support innovation projects into test markets.Maximising business benefits for global projects, you'll ensure thorough, robust systems, mechanical and electrical format expertise is applied with rigor to gain competitive advantage. Understanding and identifying future sustainable materials that transform our sustainable packaging objectives that creates a healthier planet.Our Innovation team consists of a group of highly trained scientists and professionals who are focused on supporting all Britvic business units by delivering a long-term science strategy that is aligned to business strategy and testing & implementing new ways of innovating. The teamwork in close partnership with internal and external experts to ensure world class science is available to Britvic.Key Responsibilities:Build and create effective partnerships with supply chain, and equipment suppliers to enable delivery of key projects within new growth spaces and White Space & transformational workstreams.Scope and manage the creation of accurate prototypes and designs at high speed and appropriate cost, to demonstrate proof of principle with appropriate records and information capture.Manage multiple OEM suppliers to support/create a bespoke/new to market dispense systems suited to Britvic, customer and consumer needs with appropriate governance, ensuring confidentiality and intellectual property rights are appropriately managed.Understand the risk profile of the project and actively manage the mitigation actions, with appropriate engagement with stakeholders with specific responsibility for the mechanical and electrical integrity of equipment.Plan, execute and report trials and market tests to support the innovation projects, including project sustainability assessments.Applying an iterative approach to solve specific problems in the project life cycle.Utilise technical skills to successfully translate consumer needs into robust innovation approaches.Support delivery of long term science programme by utilising knowledge and expertise in fluid mechanics to identify new technology opportunities for Britvic to deliver truly exceptional drinks.Provide the link into the wider business, championing the Software and Hardware interfaces and the possibilities of the internet of thinks. Use strong technical knowledge across dispense, leadership and influence to provide technical direction, options and solutions which support the delivery of new products and technology, executed against strategy with pace.Lead/support in the development of future materials as part of sustainable packaging.Provide direction & leadership to project teams across all levels of the business.Maintain an excellent knowledge of dispense, production processes and techniques, trends & competitors, and new technologiesMaintain and develop capability with new ways of delivering innovation projects, such as Test & Learn, MVP, Design Thinking, LEAN and agile innovation. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:Experience working in innovation product development (liquid, process & pack) and project leadership experience, with track record of delivering results is essential.Multi skilled engineering knowledge, ability to understand and collaborate with subject matter experts in Software, mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines, ensuring products are fit for purpose. Good understanding of consumer facing dispense equipmentExperience of working with manufacturing departmentsStrong team work and leadership skills within cross functional team is essentialExperience of working in Incubator/test & learn projects.Accomplished IT Skills using Microsoft suite of programs (including MS Project) are essential.
