Planning and Scheduling Lead - Service Desk

Position Description

We need a Head of Planning and Scheduling to help support our 300 strong service desk, based in our offices in Bridgend.

Your future duties and responsibilities

You will need to be people focused, with a strong desire to lead, coach and mentor a team of 4 Planning and Scheduling Consultants who look after all rotas and shifts for an almost 300 strong Service Desk. Working closely with the Operations Directors and Team Managers, you will manage the transfer of staff between contracts as per client demand whilst ensuring SLA's are adhered to.

You will own end to end Global planning, scheduling, adherence owning key relationships between external suppliers and our internal telephony team, with a requirement provide detailed reports to the senior management team. Together with team managers, you will monitor performance and productivity across the Service Desk teams in order to recommend areas of improvement for both the short term and long term, and propose areas of cost reduction and resource savings, through resource optimisation. You will need to be able to identify opportunities for the service desk, with an ability to influence senior management as to your way of thinking, be that via a business case or selling you approach to senior management.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

You'll have demonstrable experience in planning and scheduling within a Service Desk environment, with a track record of demonstrating financial strength You will be comfortable working closely with Senior stakeholders. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who can lead, motivate and develop the planning and scheduling team.

Experience in the following would be advantageous;
  • the ability to continually innovate (people, process, technology)
  • being an expert in the field (i.e. can present, talk, write whitepapers, talk at industry events)
  • Supplier manage (QStory, LogiHost etc.) and the ability to influence (writing business cases, selling approaches to Ops)
  • Be financially aware and efficiency focused but with a simultaneous focus on delivering it in a member focused way
  • leadership skills to run and develop the team and focus on succession planning
