Job Title: Team Leader

Location: Mann Island, Liverpool

Salary: £45,559 - £48,333 per annum

Contract type: Fixed Term until 31 March 2021

Employment type: Full Time

Team Leader - The Role:

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is growing a team of exceptional individuals to deliver our vision for an inclusive, globally competitive city region at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse. This is an exciting time for us, having successfully negotiated and implemented a Devolution Agreement with Government, including electing the City Region's first ever Metro Mayor. Devolution brings real, local policymaking and investment powers.

This role will help to deliver the agenda of the future for people and employers within the City Region. The Liverpool City Region has a historic opportunity right now: it is growing, with a strong base of innovative and resilient SMEs; it is upgrading its economic infrastructure, linked to Northern Powerhouse Rail, HS2 and improved local connectivity; and an unrivalled quality of life proposition based on cultural intensity and affordable living costs.

Liverpool City Region's unique digital assets of the fastest transatlantic internet cable, the GTT Express, and the UK's fastest supercomputer at the STFC Hartree Centre at SciTech Daresbury are the cornerstones of the City Region's ambitions to be a world-leading digital economy. Pairing these assets with world-leading facilities such as Sensor City, together with a further pipeline of £2 billion for the Knowledge Quarter, will keep the city region at the forefront of research and development.

Devolution further bolsters our high-performance computing and artificial intelligence strengths, and world-class digital connectivity, through the creation of an ultra-fast full fibre network. This will help make Liverpool City Region the place to work digitally. To do this, we need skilled people and businesses to power the digital economy. Tech for Good Training will help by providing free training in the skills demanded by local employers.

This role sits within the Skills and Apprenticeship Hub, which has been designed to streamline and centralise skills advice and support across the Liverpool City Region in line with the Combined Authority's One Front Door approach. The team's work includes promoting our digital skills programme Tech for Good Training, supporting individuals to understand and engage with digital skills and helping employers to reskill for future digital jobs and opportunities.

Team Leader - You:

The successful candidate will be able to see the opportunities to add value and maximise the links between different policy topics as well as being customer focused. They will be confident working with employers, learners, education providers and compliance teams as we put in place support to narrow historic digital skills gaps.

Team leaders should be self-starting, collaborative and ambitious, offer fresh ideas, and who demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based policymaking and investment, and a determination to deliver for the people of the Liverpool City Region. This post is fixed term and funded by Department for Education Digital Bootcamp funds.
