The Royal Blind School, in Edinburgh is a leading provider of specialist education services for children and young people with a visual impairment, including those with additional support needs. As a Grant Aided Independent Special School, we deliver education and support for day and residential pupils aged 5 to 19 years.

We currently have a vacancy for an innovative Teacher of Mathematics to join our school. If you are an enquiring and reflective person with a creative approach to learning and teaching who can demonstrate a working experience of delivering Mathematics to learners with additional support needs, we would like to hear from you.

The successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team developing the pupils' confidence through the real-life application of Mathematics. They will facilitate high quality, engaging learning experiences consistent with Curriculum for Excellence. Applicants will demonstrate the ability to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of individual learners.

Experience of working with children who have visual impairment and additional support needs is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

We are highly committed to the professional development of all our staff and the post holder will access comprehensive training and development opportunities. Royal Blind also offers the opportunity to access a postgraduate qualification in supporting learners with visual impairment in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh.

The post is subject to GTCS registration and PVG Scheme Record/Update for regulated work with children.
