Worldteachers are working with an independent school in Aberdeen, Scotland, who have an exciting new opportunity for a qualified History Teacher to start as soon as possible.

The position will be for a maternity cover until April 2021, with the possibility of extending until June 2021. The position is currently 0.8 FTE, but there is the possibility of this being extended to full-time.

The school offers a fully-rounded education, through which they seek to realise the full potential of each pupil. They endeavour to provide each of their pupils with a sound academic education, essential for entry to higher and further education, and to industry, business and the professions. Exam results at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher are consistently above average.

The History department is well resourced and has long offered stimulating educational visits and extra-curricular experiences; the successful applicant for this post will be committed to organising and leading such activities.

Candidates should be GTCS (General Teaching Council for Scotland) registered or eligible for registration (e.g. holding a Bachelor's degree in History or similar, and a teaching qualification in History).

Teachers are paid in accordance with the SNCT scale, and receive an additional 1% over and above this scale. The salary for this position will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Subject to satisfying eligibility criteria, the successful applicant will be automatically enrolled into the Scottish Teachers' Superannuation Scheme, but will have the right to opt out. Children of staff who attend the school will be eligible for a 40% remission on school fees (on a pro-rata basis).
