With the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor, Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join a TEF gold rated university, as Head of Legal Services. You will work alongside and support senior management as DMU continues to evolve into a creative and forward-thinking modern university.

The Head of Legal Services will report to the Director of Governance & Legal and will be expected to engage with senior management and the Governing Body as required. You will manage a team of 3 Qualified Lawyers, a Paralegal and an Administrator. You will also oversee the Information Governance team, made up of an Information Governance Manager and an Information Governance Officer, liaising as appropriate with the Data Protection Officers.

The role

As the Head of Legal Services, you will have your own casework of high profile and/or complex matters providing effective risk based legal support covering domestic and international arrangements. You will also be an integral part of the support provided to the university in successfully navigating the increasingly complex legal and regulatory obligations the university is subject to.

The person

To be successful for the Head of Legal Services role at DMU your will be a Qualified admitted solicitor or barrister with proven experience in legal practice with a background in commercial or contract law. Experience of engaging effectively with senior stakeholders internally and externally (including government and regulatory bodies) and successfully leading and managing a team in achieving service and performance targets and objectives.
