Learning Support Assistants (LSA) work alongside teachers and help teach skills to individual pupils. You'll be someone who likes children and young people and is willing to be responsible both for helping them learn, but also for their safety and well being.
It's not always an easy job, but it offers huge job satisfaction. You'll be part of a supportive team and we'll teach you how. We are noted for our staff training and professional development.
We are looking for Candidates who are caring, have had experience of working with students/children in either a voluntary or paid capacity to work with children or older students who have behavioural and learning difficulties, have must have a good standard of numeracy and literacy. You will be required to develop skills specific to the role e.g. braille or sign language
We comprise of two special schools for pupils aged 3 - 19, both situated in the London Borough of Waltham Forest (but attracting referrals from a much wider area).
Our Schools are outstanding and have an international reputation in special education expertise, curriculum and resources. The School provides specialist education for pupils with complex needs including communication and interaction difficulties.
We are highly regarded for our expertise in visual impairment. Both Schools attract pupils from across London and surrounding counties with SEN. Together the schools have more than 425 pupils on roll.
Our Research and Development Centre provides support, training and resources for both school staff and other professionals. It also hosts an excellent library and an Outreach Service which supports pupils across 4 Local Authorities.
