Immediate starts available for Behaviour / Learning Support Mentors at Haybrook College. This Alternative Provision Academy offers a range of high quality and personalised educational programs for young people aged 11 - 19 who have challenging and complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties or medical needs. They are looking for experienced Mentors, Teaching Assistants or Youth Workers to help make positive changes in the lives of their young people.

Behaviour / Learning Support Mentors

To start ASAP

Term Time Only (39 weeks per year), 37 hours per week

Starting salary £17,350

Due to an increase in pupil numbers, we are seeking additional Behaviour / Learning Support Mentors to work at our secondary Pupil Referral Unit, SEMH Special School and Post 16 provision.

The Role

As a Behaviour / Learning Support Mentor, you will:
  • Support the learning, achievement and development of pupils to ensure they leave school with the best possible outcomes
  • Play a key role supporting teachers in the classroom by mentoring young people who may have gaps in their education or may be disaffected. They may have varying learning needs and challenging behaviour and you will support them to make positive choices about their future
  • Provide support for offsite activities, personal development and sports programmes

Experience Required

Experience of working with young people who have complex social and emotional difficulties, specific learning needs or who may find a mainstream school environment challenging would be advantageous. This may be as a mentor, teaching assistant, youth worker or other support role.

About You

You need to be confident and engaging with excellent interpersonal skills, so you can motivate pupils and colleagues. You should have good numeracy and communication skills (both written and verbal) and are able to remain calm in difficult and challenging circumstances.

Haybrook College is an Alternative Provision Academy that educates young people aged 11 to 19 from Slough, Maidenhead, Windsor and surrounding areas who have challenging and complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) or medical needs. Many of the pupils have been permanently excluded, or are at risk of permanent exclusion, from mainstream schools.

We have multiple provisions at different locations across Slough offering a range of high quality and personalised educational programmes. These help to make positive changes in the lives of our young people and ensure the best possible educational outcomes.
