As a Learning Assistant in the SEND and ALS Department, you will provide non-teaching additional learning support to students with disabilities, learning difficulties, medical needs and/or mental health issues in or out of the classroom and in other college settings such as visits and residentials. The vast majority of these young people will have Education Health and Care (EHC) Plans. You will also provide verbal and written feedback on learner progress and accessibility issues to teaching staff and ALS staff.
Who You Are:
·hold a GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths and English
·have experience of supporting people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties (Voluntary work and student placements are applicable)
·have knowledge and an understanding of disability issues e.g. student autonomy
·have the ability to follow guidance and direction provided by professionals
·be able to provide either written or verbal feedback to others with a positive and encouraging approach
·have a high level of energy and enthusiasm with a positive, proactive and solution-oriented approach
·be a confident, proactive and self-motivated individual who can work on their own initiative and provide positive and innovative solutions for challenging situations
