Are you a Teaching Assistant experienced in working with students that have social, emotional mental health needs.

I am working with a school in Chesterfield that caters for children that have social, emotional mental health needs and complex challenging behaviour.

In this role you will be required to support within a classroom setting, and 1:1 with a student should they need extra support. The students are encouraged to take part in lots of activities to keep them engaged, so you will need to be willing to take part. You must be able to use your initiative with the students and be able to quickly deescalate any situations. You will need to have great behaviour management and be able to deescalate situations quickly. If you have worked within a similar setting before or within a Pupil Referal Unit this would be desirable. This school caters for children Primary - Post 16 aged, so you will need to have an Adult & Child DBS or be willing to apply for a new one. Some of the children attending thi school also have mild learning difficulties such as Autism and Aspergers syndrome.

The ideal candidate will have -

Ideally have experience working with students with challenging behaviour

Be creative in engaging the child's learning

Be able to quickly build rapport with both staff, students and parents

Resilient, calm, committed, team player with a professional outlook

Be able to support the pupil's social and emotional development

Team Teach trained is desirable

Requirements -

At least 6 months of recent teaching assistant or similar experience

A background in supporting children with SEND (desired but not essential)

An Adult & Child DBS or be willing to apply for a new one
