Policy Manager (legal sector non profit)

Location: will need to be in london 2 days a week with some travel to nationally

Salary £40-£50k per annum

Civitas charity are proud to be working with a fantastic independent grant making charity focused on the legal sector. The charity focuses on the role of legal education to empower individuals and organisation's to understand and use the law as a tool for change. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Policy Manager to join the team as it aims to deliver the five-year strategy. This role is deemed to be a crucial part of the Foundation as it looks to develop an effective policy network and use its voice as an independent funder to help achieve the Foundation's mission to advance justice and fairness. There will be a particular policy emphasis on the implications of the UK's revised constitutional settlement post Brexit and emergency provisions in place to respond to Covid-19. In addition to this the policy role will focus on examining the automated decision-making processes put in place by government. There will be considerable scope to develop these two areas of focus within this Policy Manager role. This is a senior role within the organisation and will work with a number of internal and external stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience of working within a Policy role with detailed understanding of the policy environment, political institutions, and the process of government in the four nations of the UK. You will ideally have worked at national level producing high quality written work to influence policy outcomes. You will be able to communicate policy positions to internal and external stakeholders and have experience of campaigning, policy design and networking having successfully achieved cross party support. In addition to possessing excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills you will also have an understanding, awareness of, and commitment to, the principles and practice of equal opportunities and diversity.

*Part time/flexible working requirements will be considered. The successful postholder will need to be in London at least 2 days a week and be able to travel nationally for meetings etc.
