OBJECTIVE:To participate as a team member in assessing, planning and delivering the nursing requirement of residents on the basis of individualised care.To assist in the management in the team by supervising and evaluating the care being given; ensuring that good standards are maintained.To carry out duties and act in accordance with the NMC Guidelines.
1.Participates in the clinical supervision of nursing care.
2.Ensures that the highest possible standard of care is maintained.
3.Exercises leadership to maintain good morale among staff.
4.Evaluates the care being given, progress in detail to Home Manager as required.
5.Ensures that the standard procedures for safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicines are carried out in accordance with the Home policy.
6.Liaise and co-operate with medical staff ensuring that the treatments and medicines ordered are administered.
7.Prepare and receive care reports.
8.Be familiar with the entire range of the Home Managers duties and deputise as required.
1.Make every effort to keep abreast of advances in Nursing practice, including participating in in-service training.
2.Arrange residents' appointments and prepare documentation in accordance with Home procedures.
3.In conjunction with the Home Manager, ensure that adequate and correct communication is available to residents and their relatives.
4.Responsible with Home Manager for ensuring that staff are familiar with Home policy on admission and discharge of residents.
5.Ensure that residents and their relatives are aware of home policies relating to property and visiting.
6.Participate and ensure that the correct records of the residents' are kept at all times.
7.Be familiar with all policies and procedures for the Home.
8.Ensure that in the absence of the Home Manager that all matters relating to complaints, accidents, incidents and industrial relations are reported to the Home Manager and that all details are recorded in accordance with Home policy.
1.Responsible with Home Manager for ensuring that all equipment is kept in working order; reporting any faults found.
2.Ensure that the correct economic stock levels for sterile supplies and other Home supplies are maintained to provide for the needs of residents care.Practice economy in the use of same.
3.Take all responsible precautions in the interest of health and safety at work.
4.Assist in the prevention of fire and be familiar with the emergency procedure in the event of a fire.Attend regular fire lectures and drills as directed.
5.Participate in the induction of new staff.
6.Take responsibility with the Home Manager for ensuring for the correct standard of hygiene and cleanliness are being achieved; reporting any failures of same to the Home Manager.
7.Residents should be nursed in a Home-like environment.
8.Dealing with all enquiries, showing people around the Home, knowing room fees, Trust assistance, etc.Reporting this to the Home Manager in her absence.
9.Be aware of the needs of other staff within the Home referring them to those best able to help, whilst maintaining confidences.
