Digital Scala Developer - Worthing - Permanent - £60k - £75k Per Annum

The Company

An experienced Scala Developer with an Agile background is required by a Global consultancy, based in the Worthing area. Please note that this role will begin as a remote position, until further notice.

The Role

This position will develop software in a highly collaborative and informal environment. You'll be a member of a multi-disciplinary Agile Scrum Team, and involved in all aspects of development including service design using microservices, coding, testing and a degree of maintenance and support.


· You will use Scala, JSON, Mongo, CI tooling, one-button deploy to AWS Cloud with a DevOps mentality.

· You will work from Jira tickets with defined goals & test criteria implementing RESTful microservices.

· You will build and maintain digital services within an agile Kanban or Sprint environment.

· You will contribute to design, Jira tickets, priorities & test strategies as the team works as one self-managed unit without undue interference.

· You will mentor and support junior colleagues; we encourage mentoring at all levels.

· You will contribute to your teams' robust automated test suite as part of our test-first principles.

· You will share your expertise with a range of technical and non-technical minds across the company and our clients

Experience Required

· An understanding of web/agile technologies and RESTful protocols

· Ideally, an understanding of automated web testing solutions

· Commercial experience in programming in Scala

· Ideally, knowledge of relational or NoSQL database systems such as Mongo
