Job Description Communities and Families Early Years Practitioner Spinney Lane Nursery School Salary: £22,129 - £26,393 (pro rata for part-time and sessional 39 weeks) Hours: 20.5 per week, 39 weeks per year The Spinney Lane Nursery, located in the grounds of Gilmerton Primary School, provides early learning and childcare for children aged 3-5. The nursery has implemented 1140 (term-time) hours from August 2018. From August 2020 the Nursery will run a full-time, term-time only placement for up to 64 children. Children will be in from 8.30-3pm on a Monday to Thursday and 8.30-12.30 on a Friday. The successful candidate will have opportunities to be creative and imaginative within the early years setting. They will work collaboratively as part of the nursery team and all stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor and review effective early years policies, procedures and practice in a climate which promotes equity and excellence in early learning and childcare. The following experience would be desirable: • Experience of using floor books for planning, • Experience of leading and managing initiatives within an early years setting,including loose parts play and outdoor learning. • Froebel trained/experience of the Frobelian approach. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council. Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
