Treharne Automotive Engineering are seeking both Junior and Senior Electronics and Electrical Hardware Engineers to join our existing team. The posts involve designing and developing hardware in the fields of automotive diagnostics and electric vehicles to support our position as one of the leading companies in this sector.

Responsibilities will include:

Junior role:
  • Creating prototype designs on breadboard
  • Testing new PCB designs
  • Fault finding and repairs
  • Firmware development in C

Senior role:
  • Creating and documenting design requirements
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout of new designs
  • Creating manufacturing files
  • Versioning and storing designs in accordance with company management systems
  • Creating test plans, implementing and documenting results
  • Support colleagues with advice and sharing of knowledge

Knowledge and Experience:

Junior Role:
  • Firmware development in the C language (PIC/AVR)(home projects or university experience)
  • Use of test tools (multimeter, oscilloscope)
  • Basic windows software development
  • Familiarity with Raspberry Pi development or other hobby systems
  • Degree in electronic engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or similar

Senior role:
  • Digital and analogue circuit design
  • Working within design rules for insulation, creepage and clearance
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer
  • Educated to Degree Level

Experience of the following would be advantageous:

  • Power supply design
  • Rectifier and inverter design
  • Hazardous voltage/electric vehicle design
  • Firmware development in the C language (dsPIC,PIC32,NXP Power Architecture)
  • Working with safety standards for hardware development (IEC 61010-1)
  • Use of basic workshop equipment to make prototypes
  • Soldering and assembly skills

  • Ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas and technologies quickly
  • Ability to work in a team orientated, collaborative environment
