Best.Energy is a global leader in the energy monitoring and management sector. Our products are used in over 40 countries by hundreds of clients including KFC, 7-Eleven, Walmart, IBM and McDonald's.

We're looking for someone to help us revolutionise the energy management sector and build industry-leading technology. Our flagship product, the Eniscope, is already used in thousands of electrical installations. It is used to monitor the energy consumption in retail and industrial applications and pours gigabytes of data into our cloud platform.

We need to make Eniscope connect to even more devices, run even faster & with more stability, as well as send data even more reliably to our cloud. We also need to integrate it into a new line of IoT products we have developed from scratch - "Eniscope Air". This is a set of devices that use LoRa radio to send environmental parameters and receive commands to/from the Eniscope.

The role:

We are looking to recruit a self-motivated and passionate, experienced Perl and Python developer with a good understanding of Linux operating systems. General knowledge of operating hardware, interfacing to cloud systems and protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, Modbus, Bacnet and others, which will be required to fulfil the product developments.

Previous knowledge of energy monitoring, Cloud systems, web development, PHP and IoT helpful but not essential.

Good interpersonal skills that will fit in with this friendly and relaxed workplace.

Ideal candidate located in the southwest, for access to Bristol area as and when required. Possibility of remote and flexible working.

Key responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update existing Perl software.
  • Design and implement new Python software for the future world order.
  • Fault-find and bug fix existing systems.
  • Implement and improve automated testing systems.
  • Support the customer facing teams to resolve issue in the field.
  • Aid the building of a larger development team.
  • Continuous improvement of working practices and procedures.
  • Working closely with Hardware and Cloud developers.

Job Type: Full-time permanent or contract

Salary: For permanent positions, in the area of £40k to £50k
