Head Of Finance ( ACA) role for a listed Construction business in Milton Keynes.

Key Responsibilities:

Business partner the Regional Managing Director and other regional board directors, providing robust business and performance insight and challenge:

  • Taking ownership for the full P&L for the Region
  • Drive and deliver strategic commercial decision making for the Region
  • Develop the strategy for the Region, financial business plans, budgets, forecasts and be responsible for their implementation and delivery
  • Monitor Regional KPIs to identify areas of concern or opportunities to ensure the Region achieves its financial and non-financial targets
  • Oversight of all financial reporting for the Region including reviewing the management accounts prepared by the Divisional finance team, bank covenant reporting, highlighting future capital commitments etc.
  • Responsibility for reviewing one-off payments for the Region
  • Support due diligence on land acquisitions and new business in terms of strategy, financials, structure, review of legal contracts and financial reporting implications
  • Weekly review of the cashflow forecast
  • Drive revenue maximisation and cost efficiencies across the Region
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including joint venture partners and housing associations
  • Prepare papers and attend the Regional Board and joint venture Board meetings
  • Review and challenge all aspect of Development Appraisals, including all costs and revenue streams
  • Financial modelling and project optimisation of key joint ventures and land acquisition targets, drafting associated technical accounting papers where required
  • Promote and ensure that there is a robust financial control environment in place at all times across the Region

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA with a Big 4 background) with a minimum of 5 years PQE
  • Relevant commercial experience gained in industry as well as a strong technical acumen (including understanding of IFRS)
  • Effective communicator both with finance and non-finance professionals
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to express financial results articulately at multiple levels up to Board level
  • Drive and ambition are essential to the role
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office with Excel at an advanced level
