Unity Programmer - Full Time - Liverpool
  • Remote flexible working; working in a small team on new indie games from concept to realisation on PC & Console.
  • Generalist Programmer with at least 3 years video game industry experience

Role Description:

We are looking for an all round Unity programmer to work on up and coming titles. As a Developer in this team, you will help code gameplay elements which contribute to an amazing experience. As well as contributing to the studios existing codebase, you'll have a hand in developing new features and have your ideas implemented from concept to completion for a new PC/Console title.

The successful candidate will work closely with Game designers, Artists and Animators in defining the core gameplay systems of the title, such as player progression, UI, interaction, inventory management, bug fixing and player movement/controls.

This role can offer this developer a chance to own quite a large area of the project and would suit someone who enjoys working in a small team. This would suit a generalist programmer who enjoys a flat structure, where they can get involved with different disciplines of programming, assist with rapid prototyping and attend regular games industry events.

The role will promote freedom in your work style and will allow you to be creative with your code in an open-plan environment, where ideas are commonly contributed, and everyone has an input on the project. Experience Required:
  • At least 3 years' studio experience in the Video Games industry
  • Strong C# knowledge
  • Strong Unity Knowledge
  • Released at least 1 title, Preferably on Console
  • Experience with console certification (TRC/XR/Lotchecks) a distinct advantage
  • Experience working on gameplay programming a distinct advantage
  • Unreal experience would be a bonus


Responsibilities:
  • Coding and Development in Unity
  • Bug fixing of games
  • Draft prototyping of game mechanics/ideas
  • Integrating user analytics and exporting data out of games
  • Game binary upload and submission
  • Technical advice and documentation of code
  • Time/Task management & logging your progress using project management software
  • Problem solving
  • Game research
  • Ensure overall quality of the games developed and offer concise/constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Work to clear and defined milestones and flag up any issues to the production/management team.
  • Source suitable reference materials and research to support briefs provided.
  • Research new software and industry techniques and share with the studio teams.
  • Participate in relevant client meetings and offer construction feedback and suggestions.
  • Participate in idea generation sessions and workshops.
  • Monitor, communicate and apply quality standards where necessary.
  • Assist the Production Management team with the creation of design proposals, production timings, quotes and schedules.
  • Work collaboratively with the Studio teams to produce feedback and successfully communicate this to other team members.
  • Where possible, lead encourage and support other junior members of the team, advising them on effective production techniques in order to grow their skills.
