Person Specification
This Learning Support Assistant role is suitable for academic graduates who have a keen passion on working in the education sector and has previous experience of working with those who have hearing impairments. This Learning Support Assistant role requires commitment and passion with the ability to empathise with your pupils. You should be able to support your pupils through education by having high expectations of them and helping them reach their full potential regardless of their statement. The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have a real passion for the education and welfare of those students who have additional needs and you should be able to teach with detail and enthusiasm. Learning Support Assistants who have British Sign Language would relish this role, however having BSL is not essential as long as you already have previous experience of working with others who have hearing impairments.

About the Role
At this highly regarded school, as a Learning Support Assistant you will be working closely with 6 students in total from Year groups 9, 11 and 12 who have hearing impairment, on an individual basis and in small groups. The school have an amazing hearing impaired unit, which is where you will be based for the academic year. Day-to-day, as a Learning Support Assistant you will be working with students who have hearing impairments throughout the unit and whole school. You will be progressing your abilities with the guidance of a resolute Special Educational Needs Coordinator and taking the opportunity to participate in CPD activities that are usually only open to teachers.
