About The Role
The Legal Function's responsibilities include ensuring the Society complies with relevant data protection requirements. We currently have a 6 month opportunity for a Legal Counsel, this role involves advising all parts of the business on current and emerging personal data and privacy compliance matters. It's an exciting time to be undertaking the role given the Society's ambitious digital agenda.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
•Acting as an advisor on data protection matters (GDPR, DPA, PECR)
•Providing privacy-related legal advice and advising on data breach incidents, third-party data risk management, project risk assessments and data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs)..
•Drafting and operationalising policies, procedures and guidelines on data protection matters
About YouYou'll be admitted to practice law either as a Solicitor or a Barrister in England and Wales and must hold a current practising certificate with a minimum of three years post qualification experience.
You'll also have the ability to build lasting relationships with your stakeholders at all levels around the business and be able to interpret the needs of internal clients across the Society and provide relevant, practical advice. You will have experience of advising on and operationalising data protection compliance: to include privacy practices such as impact assessments, policy drafting, supplier contracts and breach management.
