Orbital Welder

My client is one of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of electric process heaters and have a new opportunity for an orbital welder to join their team
The company's products comprise of a forged blind flange which can be up to 100mm thick and 1000mm in diameter. The flange material can range from Carbon Steel to high grade Chromium-molybdenum alloys. They machine through hole features into the flange using precision CNC on a triangular pitch matrix. The heating elements are then inserted into these holes with a very tight tolerance fit and welded into position using a proprietary orbital welding machine. The weld is subject to Hydrotest and Dye penetrant examination and other QC examination before being deemed acceptable for use.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Preparation of materials, polishing of the elements, meticulous cleaning of the elements and flanges, covering and protecting cleaned surfaces.

Insertion of the heating elements into the flange by tapping in ensuring precise positioning before welding.

To perform manufacturing functions of orbital welding in accordance with the company standards and any other standards which may apply to these functions.

Log information on welding parameters.

Follow inspection and test plans and internal route cards to ensure high quality welding.

Understand engineering drawings, measurements, construction and finishing.

Ensure all Orbital welding equipment is always kept and maintained in good working order and ensure fully serviced.

Skills Required:

· Demonstrated experience of similar precision work, either in a machine shop, home workshop or welding environment.

· Proven eye for detail and accuracy.

· Understands the important of material preparation and cleanliness.

· Takes great pride in their manufacturing work.

· Good timekeeping

· Works well in a team.

· Ability to work on own initiative

This will be for 39 hours per week as follows: Monday - Thursday: 08:00am to 4:30pm and Friday: 08:00am to 3:30pm
