The Clinical Advice team is responsible for the provision of all clinical advice to the Ombudsman. We have a group of cross-specialism internal advisers who are employees and work on a part time across our London and Mancheter offices and a large cohort of external advisers who provide advice on an ad hoc basis

Clinical advisers provide both verbal and written advice to our lay casework teams . They are employed part time, so that they can continue to work in the NHS and engage in ongoing professional development in that context. This is important because it ensures that clinicians bring current and up to-date knowledge and experience to our organisation , both in terms of clinical practice and the organisational context in which services are delivered.

We are keen to accept applications from Senior Nurses (minimum Band 6) who work in an acute hospital (ward-based) adult service, delivering direct patient care. enabling the provision of advice on a variety of cases within this area. Following appointment, new clinical advisers will participate in a short induction programme designed to equip them with the skills, knowledge and information they will need for their new role. This includes specific training in our case management and IT systems, with appropriate support from an assigned mentor and lead clinician.
