A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven Senior Buyer, to join the team of this well established and growing FMCG business in East Yorkshire. This is a permanent role that will be ideal for someone who has experience of purchasing within retail, FMCG or distribution environments and can demonstrate strong levels of negotiation and commercial awareness.

THE ROLE:
As a Senior Buyer, your duties will include but not be limited to:

*Responsible for sourcing ingredients and new suppliers and reviewing existing suppliers to ensure costs are kept to a minimum.
*Understand customer needs and market trends to be able to maximise profits and provide a commercially viable range
*Managing plans for stock levels and react quickly to change in demand
*Build robust relationships with current and new suppliers, negotiating terms and prices at the best cost without compromising on quality.
*Liaise with internal departments and key stakeholders within the organisation to ensure projects are completed
*Present new ranges and products to senior management and provide assistance with promotional activities
*Act as a mentor to junior members of the purchasing team
*Have an active involvement in product development, working closely with the product team and external suppliers

THE CANDIDATE
*Strong commercial awareness and negotiating skills are essential
*The ability to build key relationships with suppliers
*The ability to recognise and implement cost saving strategies and ways to generate profit
*An "outside the box thinker" with a "can do" attitude.
*CIPS or part CIPS qualification is advantageous but not essential.
