We're looking for an enthusiastic, talented, customer-facing and capable technical expert to join our Technical Professional Services team. Based in the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe or South Africa you'll report to our Director of Professional Services who is based in Dallas and add capacity and working hours coverage to the current US-based team - though as part of that team your work will be anything but geographically ringfenced, and you'll interact with some of the world's biggest brand names in finance, insurance, healthcare in the USA, Australia and India as well as the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe and South Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities
The core of your responsibilities will be to work closely with the client's infosec, IT teams during installations and rollouts, helping and advising them on the installation and administration of our software - but you'll also be essential in providing technical support and expertise to support our Presales team during sales engagements and RFPs.
The successful candidate will be an experienced linux system administrator with good Windows desktop knowledge who is as comfortable advising a client's IT staff on appropriate file handle limits and IOPS needs as you are talking to a project manager or operations leader about the likely infrastructure requirements and lead times to get set hardware set up. You'll enjoy working directly with customers and have enough experience to appreciate that sometimes that involves delays, pressure and challenges caused by the competing challenges present in their business and ours, and you'll be flexible and willing to work outside normal office hours from time to time as required.
Your networking skills and knowledge will be excellent and you'll enjoy rolling your sleeves up and helping a client to troubleshoot connectivity issues between laptops, desktops and virtual desktop infrastructure (especially Citrix) and their server environment - with the extra challenge that it's all inside their firewall, some of those workers are probably remote and on VPNs. You'll be comfortable working with linux package managers and windows installers, with syslogs and windows Event Viewer, with SQL as a query language and with administering MySQL databases, TCP/IP and HTTP, SSL and the basics of public key encryption.
We're a small but growing company, and we have all the challenges and benefits that brings - the freedom to get involved across organisational boundaries and to effect rapid change, offset with the need to wear many hats and step outside your comfort zone from time to time. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in and you've got the skillset to match, get in touch!
