Supply Chain Manager - Temp to Perm

Overview of the Role

As the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for managing all procurement, logistics, planning and inventory control activities of Salford's Operations. Working closely with engineering, operations, project management and quality departments to find, evaluate, approve and develop key suppliers on the basis of specific metrics including; technical ability, quality, on time delivery and cost to support Rapiscan's growing business.

  • Active participation as supply chain lead on cross-functional product development/engineering team during all phases of new product development and introduction processes
  • The development and growth of strategic supplier agreements for all suppliers Rapiscan Systems
  • The development of existing suppliers to be competitive with best in class suppliers in the areas of price and quality, to be capable of supporting customer needs with optimal investment in inventory and be capable of bringing innovation to the new product introduction process
  • The consistent supply of parts and products that meet Rapiscan specifications from its suppliers
  • Managing, coaching and mentoring of Supply Chain teams in order to achieve the supply chain team objectives including Planning, Purchasing, Receiving, Stockroom, Sub-Contractor Manufacturing, Logistics and Shipping
  • Responsible for leading policy and developing a strategy to deliver year over year purchasing savings
  • Demonstrate understanding and active participation with current business goals including general Cost reduction programmes
  • Develop relationships and agreements with OEM partners to improve performance of incoming materials across both facilities to support specific business requirements and meet external customer expectations
  • Ensure full integration of the supply chain team members and deliverables into the Rapiscan new product development programs for all products
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures necessary to ensure effective selection, maintenance and development of Rapiscan suppliers
  • Ensure that the supply chain team agree and implement strategic supplier agreements for Rapiscan Systems. This would include developing, implementing, maintaining, and reporting on key performance metrics for all key suppliers and inventory details in order to drive year over year cost reduction plan
  • Develop and implement proactive quality processes with our key suppliers in order to ensure the consistent delivery of quality products which meet all aspects of Rapiscan specifications. Work with the Quality team to resolve quality issues and seek indemnification from suppliers for resulting damages
  • Develop and integrate processes through the supply chain to share valuable information, including demand signals, forecasts, inventory, transportation, potential collaboration, etc
  • Manage inventory including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge base of Rapiscan long-term business and market needs
  • Contribute and work with other leaders to identify and action global supply chain programmes, where relevant taking the lead for these initiatives

  • Extensive experience in supply chain management, including but not limited to quality management, financial analysis, and contract negotiations
  • A proven track record in developing and implementing business process solutions to improve supply chain processes. Including inventory management and improving inventory turn levels
  • Experience working with advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to structure work, select employees, inspire performance, foster teams, use/share information and facilitate change
  • Proficient in contract management and financial forecasting
  • Proven ability to work well with others at all organizational levels, to organize and prioritize, and to participate on cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Business or Science/Engineering
  • Professional supply chain certification e.g. MCIPS preferred
