The Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) is responsible for the stability, security, and availability of their assigned product(s) and platform(s). This position is responsible for measuring and reporting back to the business KPIS such as security, availability, user experience and product stability. The SRE position requires effective communication in order to collaborate succinctly with other members of teams such as systems engineers, database administrators, network engineers, data center operations, information security, etc. The development of software and deployment of that software is increasingly intertwined, so intense collaboration between the SRE team and development to ensure operational issues are addressed and considered both in new architectures and deployment strategies for releases, is of the utmost importance.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintaining of traffic engineering to prevent the CDN from becoming over-utilized using automation.
  • Report capacity constraints when identified
  • Audit the current traffic rules that are in place to ensure they are optimized and accurate
  • Removal of need for manual management of traffic through automation
  • Analyze traffic and data to ensure we are using our DNS technologies for optimal performance
  • Provide high quality technical support to customers and internal staff
  • Independently research solutions, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems by analyzing product and network data
  • Oversee proactive efforts in order to protect product availability and performance
  • Participate in Product Development
  • Participate in architectural design decisions
  • Provide operational requirements needed to run production systems and drive operational processes, standards and priorities
  • Review and update technical documentation and procedures
  • Fix and/or advocate for product bug fixes and feature functionality for your tools/software
  • Develop scripts and utilities to support the platform.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for production

Essential Knowledge & Skills:
  • Prefer BS in Computer Science/Engineering/Telecommunications or related field or equivalent experience/skills
  • 3 to 5+ years managing large complex environments, changes and code deployments
  • Skilled at working cross-functionally to achieve project success
  • Team player focused on team success above individual achievement
  • Passion for automation and a reluctance for manual implementation
  • Strong philosophy of continuous improvement
  • Strong sense of ownership wanting to understand how things work and resolve root causes
  • Ability to encourage and foster a culture of visibility and transparency across teams
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Can read code at a high level and potentially contribute/script: go, python, perl, bash, etc
  • Understanding of BGP and internet routing technologies
  • Experience with traffic engineering using DNS, route maps and/or BGP
